Grow Godetia, “Farewell to Spring” flowers from fresh Clarkia amoena wildflower seeds. Godetia is an heirloom mixture of low growing flowers that grow to a mature height of about 8 to 14 inches tall. Each plant displays 1 to 2 inch blooms in various shades of pink and white. The flowers contain 4 petals, and are a lovely addition to any flower garden.
Godetia flowers are grown as an annual flowering plant. Annual flowers will grow quickly, bloom profusely and later die with the first frost. The plants can regrow the following year from fresh seeds that are collected or from seeds that fall to the bare ground. Godetia flowers will attract an array of beneficial insects such as butterflies, hummingbirds, bumblebees and ladybugs.
Godetia flowers are best sown in areas of full sun and need little to no care after they are established. They can be used with other short plants or low growing flowers to create a beautiful carpet of color throughout the summer months. Grow Godetia flowers in flower beds, pots & containers and along borders as well.

Sowing The Seed
Godetia flowers can be grown from seeds, either indoors, or directly outdoors when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. If started indoors, sow the seeds in peat pots, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost. Sow at a depth of 1/16″ under topsoil, so that direct light can still reach the seeds. This is crucial for successful germination. Transplant entire pots into the garden, or direct sow outdoors when all danger of frost has passed.
Growing Conditions
Godetia flowers will require an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day. Temperatures should be kept at around 70F for optimal growth. You will want to consider placing your godetia seeds and plants in a medium that is rich in organic matter, but also well drained as well. To increase drainage, we recommend adding a light compost to areas containing hard, compact soil. Water daily so that the soil remains rather moist until germination occurs. Avoid soaking the soil.
Germination & Growth
Godetia flower seeds will begin to sprout within 14 to 28 days after sowing. The plants mature to a height of roughly 8 to 14 inches tall and can be spaced about 12 to 18 inches apart from one another. Godetia flowers will display beautiful pink & white, painted blooms atop attractive green foliage. The flowers are known to attract an array of all sorts of beneficial insects such as butterflies and bumblebees as well.
