Sowing The Seed
Cornflowers are best established directly outdoors, when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Begin by clearing your sowing area of all unwanted plant life and weeds. Turn the dirt, or replace it with a fresh sowing medium. Scatter the seeds to the bare ground, spacing them out accordingly. Cover thinly, with 1/16″ of topsoil so that direct sunlight can reach the seeds.
Growing Conditions
Cornflowers thrive in warm locations of roughly 65F to 70F or more. They require an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day, and are adaptable to almost any soil condition. You must make sure that your sowing area is however, well drained. To increase drainage, we recommend adding a light compost to areas containing hard, compact soil. Water the seeds daily until germination has occurred. Once established, Cornflower can be quite drought tolerant.
