Grow Dazzler Cosmos from fresh Cosmos bipinnatus flower seeds. Dazzler produces beautiful, crimson colored flowers with small yellow centers. The plants themselves mature to a height of 36 to 60 inches tall. The leaves & stems of Dazzler Cosmos are slender and the flowers are attractive to all sorts of beneficial insects such as butterflies, hummingbirds, bumblebees & lady bugs. Cosmos are grown as an annual flowering plant, which means the plants will grow quickly, bloom heavily and then later die with the first frost.
Cosmos flowers are best established in masses, in open fields, borders and flower beds and in random areas that need a splash of color. Most Cosmos flowers grow to a height of at least 30 inches or taller, so you may consider using them as a background / backdrop plant. Cosmos flowers in general come in a variety of different colors including pink, purple, crimson, yellow, orange, white, red and will even produce a few bi-colored blooms as well.
You may also be interested in a number of additional varieties as well such as: Picotee, Seashells, Purity, Pinkie, Radiance & more. We also offer a “Crazy Mixture” which consists of every variety of Cosmos flower we offer.

Sowing The Seed
Cosmos are best established directly outdoors. Begin by clearing your entire sowing area of all weeds and other unwanted plant life. Turn the soil, or throw down new soil in it’s place. Scatter the slivers of seed, directly to the surface of the soil, covering thinly with roughly 1/16” of topsoil. (Check “Germination and Growth” for spacing & growth habits)
Growing Conditions
Cosmos will enjoy an area that receives full sunlight for the majority of the day. Temperatures should be kept at 65F or higher, for optimal growth. Cosmos plants aren’t too picky on soil conditions, however they do require an area that is well drained. Mixing a light compost to any hard, compact soil will increase your drainage. Water daily until germination has occurred, but avoid overwatering and soaking the soil.
Germination & Growth
Cosmos flower seeds will begin to sprout within 7 to 10 days after sowing. The plants will grow to a mature height of about 36 to 60 inches tall and can be spaced roughly 12 to 18 inches apart from one another. When established, Dazzler will produce beautiful crimson red colored blooms. Attracts an array of beneficial insects such as butterflies, hummingbirds, ladybugs and bumblebees.
